Create a YouTube account:

 
Note: These instructions are for a free account. YouTube also offers a branded channel advertising service for a fee. To apply for a branded channel, visit http://www.youtube.com/advertise.

Step 1:

  • Create a Youtube account.
  • Go to YouTube and click “Create Account."
  • Choose a username—your username becomes your YouTube channel name.
  • Fill out your personal details.
  • Review the terms of service and then click “I accept."
  • If you have a Google account, you can use it to create your Youtube account, but it is not necessary to do so. Fill in your Google account email and password and click “Sign In”. If you do not wish to use a Google account, enter an email address and a password and click “Create New Account and Finish."
  • Confirm your email address by clicking the confirmation link within the email that is automatically sent to the address you provided.
  • From the account settings management page, you can customize the look of your YouTube channel and enter additional details to be displayed on your profile.

Step 2:

  • Upload a video to YouTube.
  • Log in to YouTube.
  • Click on the yellow “Upload” button in the top right corner.
  • Click “Upload Video."
  • Select the video you wish to upload and press “Open."
  • As your video uploads, enter the relevant information about your video in the Title, Description, Tags and Category fields. Press “Save Changes” when you are finished. It may take between 10 minutes to an hour to upload your video.
  • Your video will be posted automatically to your channel when it has finished uploading.

  • YouTube accepts video files from most newer digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in .AVI, .MOV, or .MPG file format.
  • Videos saved with the following settings convert and display the best: MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format, 320x240 resolution, MP3 audio, 30 frame rate (FPS).
  • There is no limit to the number of videos you can upload, but there is a file size limit of 100MB for free accounts.
  • Videos can be up to 10 minutes long.
